About Debra

Experience Shaped by Service

Portrait of Debra Jemison

Debra Jemison

Founder, Author, Educator, and Family Advocate

Debra Jemison’s work is rooted in service to adolescents, mothers, families, foster youth, caregivers, students, and communities. Her perspective has been shaped by professional experience in education and family support, her lived experience as a foster parent, and the example established by her mother, Jean.

Growing up, Debra witnessed Jean’s commitment to mothers and families affected by incarceration and family separation. Debra later participated in that work, and helping one of Jean’s clients contributed to her own decision to become a foster parent. Those experiences allowed Debra to understand family support from multiple perspectives and continue influencing the resources she creates today.

Through AIM For Jewels, Debra brings together professional knowledge, lived experience, reflection, compassion, healthy accountability, and a belief that every person has value worth recognizing.
